Got Game? / Pathfinder Adventures with Tab...
Last post by jonathansample - June 03, 2010, 09:40:24 AM
Good day, all!

If you're in need of a good adventuring party comprised of gamers new and experienced, and you would like to play in a massive home-brewed campaign setting inspired by the epics of the ancient north and the writing of J.R.R. Tolkien, look no further!

Tabletop Epics! is a Grand Rapids based group of gamers who gather when we can to play any game that pulls our interest. We've been together now for close to a year, playing primarily with the Pathfinder RPG rules set. We look forward to exploring many other rules sets over the years with Game Masters (DM's if you'd like) who have been in the hobby for more than a decade. Such rules sets include Dungeons and Dragons 1st edition, Rifts, Shadowrun (3rd Edition), Vampire: The Dark Ages, Mage: The Ascension, Castles and Crusades, Star Wars RPG (both Saga Edition and West End Games edition), and many, many more. We also play card and board games whenever we can.

Our current adventures in Pathfinder take place in a diverse, richly detailed home-brew setting where the party has begun to find their way into a tangle of racial conflict between the age old elves of a wood where the energies of creation still abide and a human barony who, in spite of the progress they've shown for their kind, has begun to tighten their oppressive grip on an area shared by many ancient peoples. Feel free to join us in the quest to discover the histories and secrets of the peoples of the game world and battle the dangers that lie very close to the brave party of adventurers.

I'd be glad to respond to any email inquiries that you may have, and I know we'd be glad to have you in our game. For more information on Tabletop Epics! please look for our upcoming newsletter which will detail our group's gaming news along with local gaming information, all in an attempt to unite the Grand Rapids, MI Gaming Community. Please also check out our GM's blog at:

Last post by jonathansample - July 26, 2009, 06:09:45 AM
My group and I would be glad to welcome you and ANY interested parties to join us. I'm pulling together folks to run The Keep on the Borderlands.

My goal is to develop some sort of regular meeting group to get together for 4th Edition and previous editions, to just enjoy the game from past to present. :)

Munchkin and Other Steve Jackson Games / Munchkin - Great Game
Last post by jonathansample - July 26, 2009, 06:03:08 AM
It's certainly a good time. I first had the pleasure of trying it out at White Cap before they left Comstock Park.

We should start a weekly, bi-weekly, Munchkin group, or at least the store could maybe think about scheduling such an event, if one isn't currently running.  :)

Got Game? / Warhammer 40K board
Last post by DragonLord - April 28, 2009, 02:22:20 PM
I would like to request the creation of a board for the Warhammer 40K people who play at Whitecaps.
We would use this board to discuss upcoming game times, to discuss rules or anything else Warhammer.
Thanks

Is this still going on, and, if so, do you prefer that people bring their own characters? Are pre-mades available? What setting?

Magic the Gathering Discussion Board / Re: Greetings,
Last post by AAMCINCGuy - March 21, 2009, 11:38:47 PM
there is a new change in the M:tG format:

Week 1--Draft (typically Chaos, unless a set has been released)
Week 2--Legacy
Week 3--Alternating between Elder Dragon Highlander and
              two-headed Giant
Week 4--Type 2 or Standard

Also note that there are 2 binders at the store: 1 contains all FaQs  for Type 2 plus the M:tG Basic and Comprehensive rules plus DCI floor rules and DCI Magic specific rules. the 2nd contains FaQs for legacy as far back as Mirrodin. Also note that the binders are there as an aid to players and BELONG TO ANOTHER CUSTOMER

PS. newer singles are for sale now at White Cap Comic

Hope this helps

Got Game? / GURPS (3rd)
Last post by Norbert - March 21, 2009, 03:05:57 PM
We have been looking for people interested in Role-playing.  Right now, our times are pretty negotiable, and we tend to try to enjoy fleshing out and building the story, rather than being into 'Hack-N-Slash'.  Due to our own limited budget, we still use the 3rd Edition set mostly, and have several varied resources at our disposal.

Our Character generation is made a bit easier by using GURPS Character Assistant on the computer, which beats going through books and writting out everything, and also means that characters may be updated and printed as often as is neccesary.

Our games usually are geared to mature players, though it is certainly possible to tone this down if it is wished.

If anyone is interested, feel free to post a personal message.

To me the character creation process feels more like a video game.

The choices are rather channelled.

I think it is neat that there are spells/abilities that are at will, encounter and per day.

It makes a first level mage much more effective.

WHile the magic missile no longer automatically hits, he can do it every round and since it is versus the target's reflex, he still has pretty good odds hitting.

It is also rather interesting the way they broke things down and have rituals that characters can learn and do instead of the bulk of the spells being castable in a round or two.

All in all I think it does streamline it and make it easier for new players to learn.

I have done several demos of 4th edition and everyone has enjoyed it.
